Easily the best family camping resort in CT. My family of 6 have done tent camping on water with electric sites here for the past 4 years. Knowing the type of site and the location within the campground along with having basic courtesy for following the guidelines is important to having a great time. Between the lake beach, Oasis restaurant, mini golf, ice cream shop, fishing, and the impressively upgraded pool/hot tub area; there is plenty to do for the whole family without having to leave the site. The themed events and Saturday night bands adds even more fun to a weekend stay here. The staff is friendly and helpful. There also a lot of great CT museums, aquariums, vineyards, breweries, hiking trails, and beaches within a short drive. We’ll continue coming back here every year.
This would be an excellent location for family camping, where you want your kids to play with other kids and there's tons of socializing. Unfortunately, we were looking for more of a remote camping experience. The sites are a great size and mostly flat (although very rocky) but they are pretty close together and the place was PACKED with families, including LOTS of kids. It was very loud and definitely not a remote/woodsy experience. We had the most annoying kids at the campsite next to us, and they would run over and try to shake the port-o-john anytime someone was in it. You can walk up the hill to the bathroom/shower area, which is good for longer stays, but the bathrooms were filthy. You can also only do tent or RV camping - no hammocks. I felt like I was at a summer camp. We made the best of it, but being a single/kid-less crowd, we probably will not be staying here again.
If I could give this place a million star review, I would. This place is my Disney World. Very very clean. Grounds well kept. A lot of activities for the whole family. Super friendly and helpful staff. Everyone is so polite. Beautiful views, pool, splash pad and hot tub. Mt family has a great time each year we go. We would recommend this place a million times over. Thanks for the wonderful memories! Looking forward to next year!
We were doing the old fashioned camping in tents. We selected sites that were at the end of a road - so the sites were nice. They were flat and easy to pop tents - but the ground on one site was very rocky. The rest rooms were not very clean. The campground was loud - many sites had LOTS of people on them with several cars. And the sites were close together. Staff was friendly. This isn't the place for us tho - based on our style of camping. (although my grandson loved all the amenities!!_
Great place to be. Cabins were comfortable, food was good, and newly renovated pool was a nice upgrade to the place. Plenty of scheduled activities to keep the kiddos entertained. Staff was super helpful whenever we needed them. Lots of 1's on the mini golf scorecard - Will definitely be back.
Went camping with friends in their camper. Good site. Many activities going on over the weekend. The lake was refreshing. However the pool was crowded. Hard to enjoy the water with the groups playing catch with the football. Had to stay in one spot in order to avoid getting jumped on while they were trying to catch the ball. Lots of little kids in the middle of all this. Football playing probably should be prohibited just for the amount of little kids alone. Overall I enjoyed my weekend. Hadn't been camping in quite the number of years.
Bathhouse toilets were clogged over the weekend. We were in the safari area and the port-a-potty was nasty when we arrived on Thursday. Never pumped out nasty nasty. They nickel and dime you for everything. Had friends come to stay for a night but they had to pay for the every night we were staying. Not gonna go back there. Employees are rude if you question them. Also when they would clean the bathrooms they didn’t replace the toilet paper. That took hours to replace when I told staff. When I went back 3 hours later still no toilet paper
We recently stayed for 3 weeks, pool and hot tub are gorgeous but kids are everywhere with no supervision. Impossible to relax by the pool when balls are flying from the hot tub to the pool. They even bring in day campers to use the facilities. Sites were level and roomy enough. Guest policy has no flexibility; we ended up paying $15 per person every time a family came for a visit; mind you they were not there to use the amenities. It’s a great place for kids but we will not be back.
